I’m a pint glass collecting enthusiast. I say enthusiast now—several months ago a couple years ago I was an addict, a fiend…alright a klepto. I mean I had steel-cut laser beam Jeweler’s eyeballs for these glass goblets. Anytime I walked into a bar I became a lookout on the Titanic (yea bad example), scanning the room for any carafe with a flash of color or brewery symbol. I am trying to turn my obsession into a carefully crafted collection (from klepto to connoisseur, I  like to say.) So, while I no longer snipe every single glass that I clash paths with, I do seek out the innovative, the creative, and the classic pieces of pintware. The Duvel Collection, a limited series of glasses emblazoned with designs from internationally recognized artists, falls into the category of…I need to add to my collection.  Continue reading

Top Hops

Almost 1 month has has passed since my moratorium on alcohol. I lasted 30 ale free days and while I enjoyed my sobering start to the year I have to say that breaking the seal if you will with the tart yet sweet pour of an Anderson Valley The Kimmie, The Yink, & the Holy Gose for the Super Bowl seemed fitting. It was a bittersweet moment. I almost didn’t want to take that first sip, craving to see how long I could possible push myself without my favorite beverage. But the time I had come. I wanted back into the depths of dark stouts, to swim in pools of pale ales, and most importantly to run with the wild wild sours and goses that I have come to love so much. Continue reading
